One month or 3 months for the pill?

some people say you should wait 3 months before having sex without a condom. others say 1 month.
the birth control package (ortho tri cyclen lo) says 1 week.
I know even if taken exactly on time every day its 99% effective...
I've taken it for a 40 days so far, is it ok to start having sex w/him wearing no condom. He has been std tested and has no std's. He is my first, so I have no stds. aside from anything to do with std's... would It be 99% effective against pregnancy if I had sex now without a condomOne month or 3 months for the pill?
As long as you've been taking it according to the directions, you'll be protected. I've spoken to my doctor about it and it's one week depending on when you begin after your last regular period. It's never more than one month.
I know this might sound silly, but I'm proud of you for being careful and taking responsibility. You rock!
My doctor recommended waithing 3 months. You might call yours and see what he suggests.
Was he tested for HPV? Are you his first?
I would still have him wear the condom. He could have HPV and not know it. I speak from experience.
Normally, I would say yes because I am on the pill and I went through the same as you as far as being safe from pregnancy went. But with HPV being out there and prevalent with no sympoms being shown with people who have it and people being carriers who don't know they have it, it is safer to use a condom.
I just don't want you to go through what I did, especially since this is your first time.
Good luck. :)
