PCOS...can a regular OB/GYN DOC diagnose you or do i have to go to a specialist...?

i have an appointment on may 1 and that is with my OB/GYN and can they diagnose you with PCOS or do i have to go to a specialist...
note: i didnt say that i think i have pcos when i made the call.. i said i am having problems with my mentrual periodPCOS...can a regular OB/GYN DOC diagnose you or do i have to go to a specialist...?
Yes, your GYN can diagnose PCOS. Sometimes they will work with you on it, and sometimes they will refer you to an endocrinologist. It just depends on how the doctor wants to proceed.
yes i went to my gyn and he told me that they can do a test to find out .i don't know if i have pcos but will find out soon as i can.
there is no set test to check for PCOS..the ob/gyn will send you for blood work to check specific hormone levels, enzyme levels, etc. based on the results from these tests, they can conclude whether or not you have PCOS - i was recently diagnosed with PCOS and i had to go for about 4 or 5 different blood tests to check my hormone levels for PCOS - hope this helps :D
